Orianthi “According to You” iTunes Free Single of the Week
October 29th, 2009 by intr0vert
If you’ve seen Michael Jackson’s This Is It or if you’ve been paying attention to AvantTrash.com since June then you’ve been hearing us talk about MJ’s 24-year-old Australian virtuoso guitarist Orianthi. Her solo album Believe was just released on October 24th and her first single “According to You” is the iTunes Free Single of the Week. It’s poppier than most of what we would recommend here (It’s kinda Kelly Clarkson with a guitar) but this woman is defnitely the total package and worth checking out. Download the single and if you don’t like it then it’s still worth the price.
Review: Michael Jackson’s This Is It
October 28th, 2009 by DeadLanternMaT
Everybody on the planet knows that Michael Jackson died this past summer and everybody knows that he was in the middle of rehearsing for a 50 date stint in London. That tour was entitled This Is It and as the name implies, was to be the final live performances of his career. After his death, Jackson’s representatives revealed that everything, including dress rehearsals, had been filmed by the production company putting the show on. They decided to make a film as a final gesture to fans (and, no doubt, to recoup millions of dollars lost on the production itself) so everybody could see what the King of Pop had planned for his last act. I scored some tickets to the preview screening in Lincoln tonight and just got back from seeing the flick. I know you are all curious about the big question: does he look like he’s about to fall over and die, or is he the vibrant performer we all remember? Read on…
Orianthi – “According To You”
October 6th, 2009 by intr0vertI know this isn’t the typical thing you hear at AvantTrash.com but a couple months ago I recommended Orianthi as an artist “You Should Know”. Well her album is coming out and a promo person sent me a link to the single and I thought I’d pass it along to you. It’s a bit on the Kelly Clarkson side but trust me, this chick SHREDS!
I’ve been offered to interview her so if you have any questions for the woman hailed as Santana’s protege and Michael Jackson’s final guitarist then post a comment here! Orianthi will be featured heavily in Michael Jackson’s “This Is It”, coming to theaters later this month.
Dangerous: An All Metal Tribute to Michael Jackson
July 27th, 2009 by intr0vertSoak it all in.
On the West Coast, we have Steel Panther. A hair metal tour-de-force thats been burning up Monday nights on the Sunset Strip for years! On the East Coast around the same time MetalShop/MetalSkool/SteelPanther was being formed, they had Satanicide. A group of Jer-Z Boyz sent to bring metal back to the jaded Brooklyn alt-hipster-bro culture (w/a Celine Dion cover, even!). From Satanicide came Tragedy: The Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees and now in the wake of the death of the King of Pop comes Dangerous: An All Metal Tribute to Michael Jackson. Based purely on this photo they sent me…I think it should be fucking ridiculous amazing!
Should you be in New York, you should schmon! down to the Bowery Ballroom on August 1st for this show. One night only! Tickets Available Here.

You Should Know: Orianthi
July 14th, 2009 by intr0vertWith the unfortunate loss of this, or maybe any generations’ best live performer, there is the feeling that there is a lack of magic in the universe that the minor stars of today are, hard as they try, sadly unable to produce. But on the horizon are the next generation of prodigies, just like a 5 year old Michael Jackson once was.
Dear Rush: Michael Jackson was always a success.
July 1st, 2009 by DeadLanternMaT
Rush Limbaugh tried to capitalize on the death of Michael Jackson by making the ridiculous statement that Michael Jackson’s success was directly related to the success of Ronald Reagan. He even went so far as to say that he “languished” under Bush 41 and Clinton and “died under Obama”. Now the stupidity of a statement like that could be dissected every which way, but I would argue strongly that Michael Jackson was never not a huge success story. And his success certainly had nothing to do with a particular president.

R.I.P. Our Hero
June 25th, 2009 by intr0vertMichael Jackson is asking for a lung for Xmas.
December 22nd, 2008 by intr0vertMichael Jackson is just full of problems: forclosing on Neverland, being forced to play vegas, kiddie fiddler lawsuits. And now according to a biographer, The King of Pop is pretty sick.
via The Boston Herald:
MELVILLE, N.Y. — Michael Jackson is ailing from a rare lung condition and needs to undergo a transplant, according to the author of a new biography on the King of Pop.
Author Ian Halperin said Jackson, 50, suffers from Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a condition that can be fatal.
“He’s had it for years, but it’s gotten worse,” Halperin said in an interview with In Touch magazine. “He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It’s the bleeding that is the most problematic part. It could kill him.”
Halperin also said Jackson “can barely speak” and is having trouble seeing: “The vision in his left eye is 95 percent gone.”
There is still no confirmation from the Jackson camp so maybe this isn’t true.
Look at that great photo of MJ when he still looked a little bit normal. We miss you human Michael Jackson! Get well soon, crazy! While they are putting in a new lung, maybe they can put his face back on. We want to see the biggest comeback in history.
Happy Birthday AliUptown!

May 30th, 2008 by intr0vertHave you been to celebtags.com yet? It seems like a social experiment of sorts where you type in the first thing that comes to your head when you see a celebrities photo and it puts the answers into a TAG CLOUD where the most common phrases get LARGER. The largest word for Anjelina Jolie is HOT of course. The largest for Johnny Depp is COOL…naturally. But can you guess what the most common for Michael Jackson is? I said Lady but you can go figure it out for yourself…
