Brand spankin’ new Creative Director of Thierry Mugler, Nicola Formichetti has wasted no time in reinventing the brand. His creative debut happened yesterday in Paris at the Thierry Mugler (which he has since rechristened simply Mugler) Menswear A/W11 collection showing.
Opening the show was the face of Formichetti’s ‘Anatomy of Change’ campaign, model Rick Genest who came out clawing at his latex-covered face to reveal the signature skeleton tattoo that covers the majority of his flesh.
Another muse of Formichetti’s, Lady Gaga, was tapped as Music Director for the fashion house, and more specifically-yesterday’s show. She premiered a remix of a ‘Born This Way’ track (Scheiße) for the show itself. Formichetti, who serves as the Haus of Gaga Fashion Director, is responsible for some of Gaga’s signature looks, including the meat dress, her gun bra from the Alejandro video/Rolling Stone cover, as well as her ‘Jo Calderone’ persona from the Vogue Homme Japan cover (which I will posess one day, if it’s the last thing I do).
The song was featured in the following short film directed by fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco. The video features clips from the runway show and of Genest.
