HBO’s True Blood is back soon, better stock up on some Vitamin B12.
No one’s gonna get that. Oh well.
I think this poster is badass. It did take me awhile to figure it out. I thought their promo poster for the first season was pretty cool, and loved seeing it all over Chicago, so I hope this one makes an appearance in my city too. And while I am beyond excited for Season 2 of HBO’s True Blood (back in June), I have to call bullshit on a couple things. Now I realize these are things that no one else gives a shit about, but I have to be heard on these.
First:
It would appear from the photo that Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) has cut his beautiful blonde hair. WTF, right? I can’t remember what the rules in this particular vampire universe are, but I’m pretty sure vampires don’t cut their hair. This is some straight up bullshit. He’s a thousand year old Viking, for Christs’ sakes. He should look like this. Instead, he looks like a P.E. teacher (the tracksuits don’t help). Although in all honesty, Pam really does wear that soccer mom shit, although its usually more along the lines of pastel twin sets and pearls. Ick. Whatevs. I am so offended by that picture, and way less attracted to him. Like Samson, in the Bible-his power over me has significantly diminished.
Second:
Evan Rachel Wood is in Season 2. I hate her. Shes a poorman’s Dita Von Teese, and I’m pretty sure her entire personality exists from dating Manson and being into a low-budget version of his ex. Her role in S2 is only for a couple episodes, but her character becomes essential to the story in the next couple books, so she’s pretty much here to stay. She’s playing Sophie-Anne LeClerq, the spoiled brat Vampire Queen of Louisiana-a vampire Governor, if you will. She is trapped in the body of a teenager, but it has worked to her advantage in her 400-some years of afterlife. She is a French diplomat, and one of the most prominent vampires in America.
“She’d died as a human when she’d been maybe fifteen or sixteen. In her time, that would have made her a fully-grown woman and mother. In our time, that made her a mall rat.”-All Together Dead, book 7.
Sophie-Anne’s a good character, and although it pains me to say it, on looks alone, Wood’s not a bad match. I’ve never been blown away with her acting (how hard is it to play a slutty teenager?). I’ve heard she’s really good in Across The Universe, but I’m one of those snob’s that is afraid it’ll ruin those songs for me. But I digress.
Short-hair Eric and ERW cannot ruin this series for me. I, of course, hope Lafayette isn’t gone for good, but do realize that probably won’t happen (and yes, I know what happens in the books-that doesn’t mean I’m giving up hope just yet). If the series follows the book plotline, even loosely, then our friends in Bon Temps will find themselves in Dallas for a decent amount of time. More action with the crazy Fellowship, which I love. Also, lots more hot vampire sex, which is always a bonus (I’m still entranced by the scene where Bill claws his way out of his grave and then starts fucking the shit out of Sookie there in the dirt). If you haven’t gotten into the series, I’d say give it a chance.
