My new thing.
Books on tape. Well, not so much tape as CD. And not even CD really, cause it’s on my iTunes. So…books on mp3 I guess. The story goes…
I’ve read all of Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mystery books, and also love the crap out of True Blood (say what?). Not surprisingly, I sung the HBO show’s praises to everyone who would listen, or pretend to listen. My brother (Brother One, for now) got into the show, thanks to yours truly, and I recommended he read the books. So at Thanksgiving, I brought the first 3 books of the series home for him to read.
Whilst home for Thanksgiving, I find out that Brother Two (numbered in order of appearance) and his wife are way into True Blood too! Brother Two’s wife was about halfway through the Twilight series, and I told her if she liked them, then she would love Harris’ series, which are (in my opinion) better written, are minus the potential LDS meta, and are actually for an adult audience! Anywhoodle, Brother One suggested I let her borrow the books, since she would probably get to reading them sooner anyways. So I did.
Still with me? I decided to download the mp3ed books for Brother One, since he travels a lot for work. I started listening to them myself, because I’ve always wondered if I was the type of person that could get through a book on tape-or whatever. And I’ve been hooked ever since-I’m about to start book 5, it’s such a great way to get through my daily commute (over an hour a day). Now, once I catch up (which may or may not happen before book 9 comes out in May), I’ll need to try reading listening to a book I haven’t read before, to see if I can focus on a story I’m not already familiar with. Suggestions? It’ll have to be something I can find for free, cause I sure as shit don’t want to pay, like, 30 bucks or whatev on iTunes.
I’m actually driving to MN to visit Brother Two, which would be a perfect time to get through a book, but since I won’t be alone on my road trip, I’ll have to nix that plan. Need to make a killer mixtape or two. And yes, I still call them mixtapes even though they are CDs. And I always will.

The video really is my favorite scene from the first season. AIDS burger. Classic.
